Riftbound’s Creators in 2027
Riftbound’s first year working with creators has been nothing short of inspiring. Meeting content creators from around the world and seeing them create such cool stuff for their respective communities has demonstrated that creators are invaluable in showing off all the different ways to love Riftbound. We’re incredibly grateful to work with such fun, creative, passionate gamers on a daily basis.
Riftbound’s first year (and first four sets) has already allowed us to work with hundreds of creators in lots of different ways. Riftbound creators revealed an incredible 213 cards around the globe. We worked with hundreds of creators across our set releases to create Riftbound content. We’ve even contracted creators to help us make some cool stuff for Riftbound’s own channels, like the Unleashed Dev Drop and our mechanics explainer videos.
A card game without someone to play it with isn’t nearly as much fun, and it's the community voices sharing Riftbound online that have helped make it such a wonderful place to be. In short, if you're making videos, posting about your Nexus Nights, cosplaying, or supporting anyone doing any of these things online, you’re what’s made Riftbound so great.
2027
Looking ahead to 2027 our goals take this work one step further. We want to work with more individuals the world over as Riftbound continues to grow globally. We want to lean harder into support for specialized content such as high-level competitive play, super-niche collectibility, and more! To do this, we are working to create a clear and reliable process for creators to get involved in these initiatives.
As Riftbound is growing and we’re establishing how best to work with creators, we are not going to join the RPP yet. As always, we will see how things evolve and how Riftbound continues to grow. For now, Riftbound’s creator programming will continue to be handled set over set; our work is focused on improving the ways more creators can be seen and considered for us to highlight and have them get involved. We have trusted partners that we’ll continue to work with, but with every set we will bring new creators into the spotlight to share the excitement.
When a new set is announced, we will share a link for creators to apply to get involved. This link will be at the bottom of future set Overview articles, as well as shared elsewhere. Apply for the sets that resonate with you, and tell us what you’d like to make! You’ll be able to apply for every set, but there are no guarantees on being selected. Our goal here is to explore relationships with new creators and to grow together as a community.
As with previous sets, the partners who we work with during preview season will receive product to create content ahead of launch. That means that there’s even more reason to keep an eye on previews, as those creators will be giving you the inside scoop on cool cards and combos ahead of your Pre-Rift event.
We’ll also continue contracting creators on a case-by-case basis for specific content needs like mechanics explainers, event activations, and more. The truth of it is that these opportunities are rare, and always different. What we can state explicitly is that we will continue to partner with new faces who show off the best of the Riftbound community.
There are some very important roles that don’t necessarily fall under a YouTube category or a typical hashtag, however. Casters, Cosplayers, and Website Developers provide a great deal of value to the Riftbound ecosystem, and have a very different set of collaboration opportunities available to them than a typical streamer or YouTuber.
Website Developers will all still need to submit their creations through the proper Dev Rel review channels, but are welcome to apply to participate in preview seasons (hope you all saw the cool Vendetta reveal that Piltover Archive created).
Cosplayers and Casters can apply for consideration at RQs, RCs, and their 2027 implementations, using these respective links. These running applications will be a constant reference point for event organizers and will also be available at the bottom of the Roadmap Article.
Events
With November comes Riftbound’s first Regional Championship! It’s exciting to hit this milestone in our Organized Play circuit, but it does mean some changes to how we work with creators on site at events.
Next year, with the exciting changes to the Organized Play structure, we will be shifting our focus for on-site influencer management to the new Riftbound Continentals. There will still be Regionals where we show up for on-site influencer management, such as organizing creator Pre-Rifts, or trying other new things out, but they will be the exception rather than the norm that they have been this year.
We’ll still provide badges to creators wanting to make content at Riftbound Regionals, and we’ll still give them opportunities to become part of the action with their own events like Trivia or Meet & Beats. You all are such a creative bunch, and we wouldn’t dream of standing in your way of sharing that with other fans. The truth of the matter is that you’re the ones who make those events so special.
The Perfect Partnership
Lots of people ask what we’re looking for with our partner opportunities. The easiest answer we can give is passion. If you’re making content that speaks to what you love about Riftbound, and you’re doing it consistently, you’re already doing the most important things you can.
As far as specific types of content:
- Card games will always have room for deck techs and combo explainers.
- Learn to play content will always have value in something as strategic and complex as Riftbound.
- We’ll always want to hear cool collector stories or watch interviews with pro players.
Whatever you're making, it probably has an audience we want to feel welcome and supported.
Create with authenticity, be a positive member of the community, work with each other, and don’t be afraid to try something new!
We’re dedicated to identifying new Riftbound creators to grow with the game in 2027, and looking forward to seeing what you talented individuals create. The past year has given us a lot of ideas and energy to work with, and we’re going to put it to good use in the months ahead!
