On September 14, 2026, PlayRiftbound.com will become the home of Riftbound Organized Play. 

Here’s the TLDR on what you need to know about the update:

  1. Starting with Radiance Pre-Rift registration, players and stores will use PlayRiftbound.com instead of carde.io to find, register for, play at, and run events.
  2. Players will sign in with their Riot ID, with no account linking required. 
    1. If you don’t have a Riot account, create one before registration opens.
  3. We’re building this platform from the ground up, so we’re prioritizing the most important features for Organized Play before expanding what PlayRiftbound.com can do.
  4. Let us know what you'd like to see in future updates!

Beginning September 14, 2026, PlayRiftbound.com will be updated with built-in features for finding and registering for events. It will also be the new home for match pairings and recording results during an event. 

You’ll still find the Rules Hub and new Riftbound articles on the site, and some sections will have a new look and feel. Most importantly, we’ll introduce new tournament tools for players and stores. Overall, it’ll be easier to find (or create) a place to play Riftbound in your local area. 

Why We’re Moving to PlayRiftbound.com

Carde.io, the current site for Organized Play events, has been an excellent partner during Riftbound’s launch. We’re switching to PlayRiftbound.com, a Riot-owned website, because many of our ideas for Riftbound’s future would benefit from an internal platform or require one.

Plus, PlayRiftbound.com uses Riot IDs for sign-ins and registrations, which means that you’ll no longer need to go through an account-linking process to access Organized Play.

How to Use PlayRiftbound.com

We’re moving to a completely new home base for Organized Play, but using it should feel pretty familiar. Whether you’re new to Riftbound or you’ve been to tons of events before, here’s what to do when you visit PlayRiftbound.com for the first time.

  1. Sign in with your existing Riot account, or create one through the Riot account page.
  2. Starting with Radiance Pre-Rift registration, use the updated event search to find a place to play near you.
  3. Register for your chosen event with your Riot ID; no account linking is required.
  4. Once you’re playing at the event, use your phone to check pairings and record your results.

What This Means for Stores

PlayRiftbound.com is also being built for the stores and organizers who create local Riftbound play. At launch, stores will have one place to support event registration and help players find their events, and sign-ups should have fewer account issues. We want stores and their teams to have good experiences when it comes to making and running our events whether it’s a weekly Nexus Night, a Pre-Rift, or a future event such as the Nexus Cup and Challenge Series.

We want to make it easier to create great experiences for players.

We’ll be back with more about the new programs for stores in an update at the end of October. That update will be the follow-up to our State of Play article where we gave a full picture of the Riftbound Organized Play system in 2027.

What’s Next

We aren’t announcing development timelines for PlayRiftbound.com updates yet, but here are some of the improvements we’re already exploring to support play programs in 2027.

  1. Better tools for tournament organizers and judges running local events, large tournaments, and side events.
  2. More ways to compete, including expanded 2v2 tournament support.
  3. Easier decklist creation and validation across competitive formats.
  4. Improvements for finding and viewing Riftbound cards.

We’re planning to share semi-regular updates about what we’re working on, big or small, to keep players up to date. Keep an eye on the News page for future announcements.

FAQ

Q: Will my play history be lost from carde.io? 
No. We’re working with UVS and carde.io to migrate player history to the new platform.

Q: Various Riftbound fan projects rely on carde.io data. Will the new site continue enabling them? 
The short answer is that those projects will likely be interrupted by this change, but it’s not our goal to break these sites. We’d love to keep seeing a vibrant offering of community-created tools for playing Riftbound, so long as they abide by the developer agreements and guidelines regarding community projects.

Q: I’m a store owner and haven’t received transition information. What should I do? 
Reach out to your UVS or regional store partner, and they’ll guide you through the steps to move your store to the new platform.

Q: How can I share ideas and feedback? 
We’ll be watching social media carefully for issues that arise, as well as awesome ideas from the community on how to make PlayRiftbound.com even better.
